We the People

In the past, Presidential candidates have been chosen by popularity and their ability to raise mass quantities of money for their campaigns. In hindsight, that appears to be the only qualification required.
A common belief has been that there was a need for political experience or education in running a government. Evidently not so, and it’s not just in electing a President. Many newly elected officials have not even read the Constitution and rely on a small pocket booklet for quick reference.
So imagine, for a moment, the qualifications to run for President required you to have a teaching degree in order to run for the highest office in the land. Once elected, that person’s administration would likely focus on education nationwide. There would be an increase in teacher qualifications along with a salary increase. More money would be funneled into schools, making them the most outstanding learning institutions in the world.
Now let’s imagine that the qualification for President was that you had to have been a farmer. That administration would more than likely focus on our food production. There would be a focus on higher-quality fruit and vegetables. Meat production would be under more heightened scrutiny with more inspectors nationwide. There would be more support for the smaller family farms focusing on Organic practices.
But like I said in the beginning, right now, the only qualifications are popularity and money.
So it is no wonder a government run by “Millionaires” would focus more on the capitalist side of acquiring wealth. Now that corporations are considered “People,” our politicians are more focused on those”People” with their unlimited amounts of financial support at the expense of our Republic’s citizens, who only have a single vote to support them with.
There needs to be a Constitutional amendment that requires everyone who swears an oath to the Constitution read into a camera the three founding documents of our Republic. The Declaration of Independence, The Bill of Rights and the Constitution.
That video is then saved in the Library of Congress and becomes available to anyone who wishes to see it.
This will bring a true trickle-down effect on our society. Perhaps then our “Representatives” will have a better foundational understanding for them to make decisions for everyone involved in our Republic and not be so focused on just the capitalist side of the equation. People who are required to swear an oath to the Constitution are not swearing an oath to the word Constitution. They are swearing an oath to all the words within the document. Recording themselves reading the entire document will perhaps give them a deeper insight into the meaning of
“We the People.”
